Role:
Gamification Lead & UX Designer

Project goal

A consortium of higher education institutions, led by the University of Los Andes, Colombia’s top 1 private university needed to train more than 200 professors from different parts of the country on preparing and writing research papers. For this purpose, they created a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) but they were struggling to get professors engaged, due to the complex topics covered and the fact that professors have their full-time job to attend.

I was brought on board to design a Gamified strategy to make this MOOC truly engaging and apply the best UX design and behavioral science strategies to the current state of the project.

Skills & Deliverables

Solution

Using the available resources and native plugins from Moodle, I designed a holistic strategy to empower learners through meaningful choices (specialization paths) and used a narrative framework to leverage their curiosity throughout the whole course, as well as a solid reward schedule to keep them motivated via accomplishment symbols and levels.
